Former UK ambassador: CIA sent people to be ‘raped with broken bottles’The CIA relied on intelligence based on torture in prisons in Uzbekistan, a place where widespread torture practices include raping suspects with broken bottles and boiling them alive, says a former British ambassador to the central Asian country. Craig Murray, the rector of the University of Dundee in Scotland and until 2004 the UK's ambassador to Uzbekistan, said the CIA not only relied on confessions gleaned through extreme torture, it sent terror war suspects to Uzbekistan as part of its extraordinary rendition program. "I'm talking of people being raped with broken bottles," he said at a lecture late last month that was re-broadcast by the Real News Network. "I'm talking of people having their children tortured in front of them until they sign a confession. I'm talking of people being boiled alive. And the intelligence from these torture sessions was being received by the CIA, and was being passed on." Human rights groups have long been raising the alarm about the legal system in Uzbekistan. In 2007, Human Rights Watch declared that torture is "endemic" to the country's justice system. It's probably all true. There are horrendous things our govt does that they cover up and no one believes when they hear about it.
I remember reading a 'supposed' story about the govt getting military personnel to sign up for a 'cake duty'. All they had to do was go sit on the beach of some tropical island with a pair of military-given sunglasses at an appropriated time and watch the sunset. They didn't know what they were looking for and no one told them much more. Turns out, they were watching the dazzling colors of a nuclear bomb testing, and sadly, they were within an unsafe distance. No one knew about this until the men (all dead now) started getting really bad cancers, then the story was told. Turned out to be true.
I would provide links, but they have all been removed.
I truly believe they have things all over the world that would sicken even the most violent offender. It's a sick world we live in, and I wish I was one of those who would never believe the stories.
