I think I am responsible for this article being written. I told my brother-in-law about this fact that almost nobody knows and he used it in a quote to the Times writer, and thus to this one! Funny how things get around...

Here is a good read:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Tyndale

Killed for his love of the truth, his final words were:  "Lord! Open the King of England's eyes."
and that same King, who ordered him killed for publishing an English Bible for the masses????
Within four years, at the same king's behest, four English translations of the Bible were published in England, including Henry's official Great Bible. All were based on Tyndale's work!
God hears prayers, and will remember his martyrs. May we never take the English Bible for granted!

2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
