UPDATE:

Scientists claim it is 'plausible' that Jeanne Calment really DID live to be 122-years-old and probably is the world's oldest ever person

[18533746-0-image-m-13_1568635856164]

Scientists have concluded that it is indeed plausible that France's Jeanne Calment - who holds the Guinness World Record for the oldest person ever - reached 122 years old.

At 100 years old, the world's oldest billionaire still goes to the office every day
[image]

At 100 years old, the world's oldest billionaire would be forgiven for taking it easy and enjoying the riches of his eight-decade career.

But for Chang Yun Chung, founder of Pacific International Lines (PIL), staying at home isn't an option. Despite handing over the role of executive chairman to his son, Teo Siong Seng, earlier this year, the centenarian Singaporean insists on going into the office every day.

"It's my habit," Chang told CNBC in a recent episode of "Managing Asia."

As chairman emeritus of PIL — a title honoring his contribution to the 51-year-old company — Chang said he visits the firm's Singapore headquarters daily to run through its operations and check in with every department.

Richard Overton smokes his 12 daily cigars, and sometimes enjoys his favorite drink, a whiskey and Coke.

Richard Arvin Overton is an American supercentenarian who at age 111 years, 321 days is the oldest verified surviving U.S. war veteran. He is the oldest living man in the United States. Wikipedia

Back in October, Overton had a home makeover, which among other things included the installment of another first: After more than 111 years, Overton finally had central air conditioning.

Over the course of his life, he's met many celebrities, athletes and politicians, including President Barack Obama. Each asked him the same question about his secret to longevity. His answer?

God and cigars.

According to The Post, Overton enjoyed his tour of the D.C. museum. After seeing the WWII exhibit, Overton mentioned to his friends that he "didn't see his name up there," which got a laugh.

"One of these days," Overton said, "it will be."

Amazing Grace! Britain's oldest person reveals the secret to a long life is a dram of whisky a day as she celebrates her 112th birthday today

Britain's oldest person is celebrating her 112th birthday today and has revealed the secret to her long life is a dram of whisky every day for the last six decades.

Grace Jones, known to her friends as 'Amazing Grace', reached the landmark age after the death of Olive Evelyn Boar, from Felixstowe, Suffolk, in August at the age of 113.

And, by coincidence, she also takes the title from another Grace Jones, a South Londoner, born 1899, who also died at the age of 113, in November 2013.

The new record holder however puts her longevity is down to a nightcap of Famous Grouse single malt whisky every evening for the last 62 years.

'Super-agers' who may drink and smoke but have a zest for life are best at warding off dementia

Medical experts were stunned when they carried out research on 'super-agers', who despite having many symptoms associated with dementia, seemed not to be affected by the condition.

In spite of the fact many of the super-agers had unhealthy habits including smoking and drinking, researchers found what they had in common was a positive attitude in life and an unusually high proportion of the rare brain called called the von Economo neuron.

‘Don Celino’ is 121, according to his Chilean ID card. That makes him four years older than the Guinness-listed oldest person

Piotr Kozak in Mehuín, Chile

When Marta Ramírez agreed at age 63 to take in a destitute nonagenarian, she didn’t see it as a long-term imposition.

The man’s house had burned down, he had no one else and he looked frail.

“He was 99, I didn’t think he’d be around that much longer,” Ramirez recall.    She is now 85, and her long-term guest, Celino Villaneuva Jaramillo, is 121 – very probably the world’s oldest man.

Born in 1896 – a year after George VI, and four years before the current Guinness-listed oldest person, Nabi Tajima – Jaramillo lost his birth certificate in the same house fire that made him destitute 20 years ago.

But the birth date on his Chilean identity card is 1896, and no one in Chile up to the president and justice minister (who personally delivered his renewed ID card in 2016) doubts his longevity.

“Checking our records, Celino Villanueva Jaramillo was effectively born on 25 July 1896 – and he’s still alive,” said Jacqueline Salinas, one of the heads of the demographic department at Chile’s office of statistics.

The mustard shag carpet was ripped out in favor of wood paneling. There's new kitchen appliances, a walk-in shower, a new hot water heater, and finally, central A/C.

"In the summer it'd be hot as hell in there," said Volma Overton, who's third cousins with Richard. "In the winter, it'd be cold as hell."

97-Year-Old Coca-Cola Employee Shares His Secret To Longevity

FORT SMITH (KFSM) — Fred Kirkpatrick has been working at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Fort Smith for nearly 80 years.

He’s worn a number of hats in his time with the company, but the 97-year-old is now the archivist and curator of the plant’s museum on the second level.

“I've always been interested in history and I collect stamps, and I collect baseball cards and things like that,” Kirkpatrick said.

So for Kirkpatrick, or Mr. K as many people call him, it was only natural for him to collect old documents and Coca-Cola memorabilia.

“That’s primarily what I do is look after the museum and the archives,” Kirkpatrick said.

Mr. K got his start at Coca-Cola in 1938. At the time, the plant was located at Rogers and 2nd Street across the street from Judge Isaac C. Parker’s courtroom. Kirkpatrick said people were still recovering from the Great Depression.

“I started out just as a clerk in the office,” he said. “Then I became the bookkeeper and the office manager and later on became the operations manager.”

The company moved to the current location on Phoenix Ave. in the 80s and Kirkpatrick said he has seen it evolve over the years. For example, they don’t bottle Coke there anymore.

“We really are just a distributor now, but for more than 90 years we were a bottler,” he said.

At 97 years of age, he explained his secret to a long and healthy life.

“Well I’d like to say it’s because I’ve been drinking Coca-Cola all those years, but probably because I try to keep fit by exercise and eating properly and not smoking.”

He has always worked at Coca-Cola in some capacity except during the years he served in Word War II. He said he has no plans to retire.
